facebook group

  • For our campaign we had to create a group, or a way of letting other people know about our campaign.
  • I created a group on Facebook called ' free hot chocolate'
  • so far...20 people have joined my group, not all people who have joined are on my contact list.
  • i have invited everyone on my facebook contact list so i can get as many people to join my campaign
  • Facebook is a good way to get support for your campaign because lots of people will be able to join the group easily, you can keep track on how many people have joined and the word will spread quickly about the campaign.

my posters

These are my 2 campaign ideas, i created them on photoshop.

first we had to think of slogans for our campaigns, some of my ideas were:
  • Think college.Think chocolate
  • chocolate.lessons.home
  • late for college?not anymore
  • with you in mind
  • wake up to chocolate-which i used for my poster

For the first poster(left) i decided to add a clock, because my slogan is 'wake up to chocolate', which goes with the picture.

For the second poster(right)i added a cup of hot chocolate , because my campaign is 'free hot chocolate', and it looks delicious:)

I used browny fonts, becuase it, in-a-way represents hot chocolate

campaign T-shirt design feedback

:)positives:)

  • 'Like the simple design'
  • 'straight to the point'
  • 'very grown up design'
  • 'nice'
  • 'I like the tea & Chocolate,high fives'
  • ':)like this'
  • 'good use od colours'

negatives:

  • 'Could be less smudged'

I think the feedback was moslty possitive, and shows that my campaign idea was a good choice, and that i chose the right picture/stencil design. The only downside was that when i did the silkscreen print, afterwards it came out a bit smudged. It shows that i should have been a bit more carefull .

petition research

http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/Tweens/

i chose 'provide support for 16 to 18 year olds' because it involves me ,16-18 year olds, and i completely agree with it .It is a time when us teens need-a-hand:college,problems at home...what is the petition for?....
  • "This age group are not entiltled to any unemployment benefits or housing support and often slip through the net, many are often in conflict at home and they can become homeless, sofa surfing and even living in tents, they are often not noticed because many people can't believe that any teenager is not living at home with mum and dad."

  • "Many young people are struggling with many issues such as parental drug use at home, violence within the family often affects them directly and other types of abuse and neglect. Most of the young people affected do not 'look homeless' or like they are suffering in any way, they are effectively hidden. "

  • "Many of them are have failed accedemically and have many issues to deal with - they often struggle to cope with all the things going on in their lives and despite the media approach to teenagers most of them are just normal young people struggling to find their place in a increasingly more hostile society. The young are our future and they all need to be supported when they are young to become well rounded young adults that are able to cope with the life they are expected to take on, how can they do this without the neccessary support?"

free hot chocolate!!!

My campaign is 'free hot chocolate ' in the morning at college

  • lots of places that sell hot chocolate normally give freebies , but not free hot chocolate to people.

  • I only found one result for a website for 'free hot chocolate', but no campaigns .

  • The only result i found that is similar to my campaign, is a site called 'freehotchocolate.com'.They give away free hot chocolate from 27th october -March 31st .To be able to get the hot chocolate you have to be part of a group-so its not for everyone.

  • My campaign is to make free hot chocolate at college in the morning when you ome in the classroom.I thought of this idea because in the morning you wake up and feel like,"oh no , not college..."...but!If you got a free hot chocolate in the mornings you might not mind as much, and it's something to look forward to!

  • it won't be expensive ot make hot chocolate because the ingrediants aren't too expensive- a average packet/jar of chocolate is £2.99 for a large one, and £1 for a small packet(cadbury's hot chocolate at sainsbury's)
  • smaller packets are even cheaper-about...46p

I did a survey on my campaign, the 3 questions were:

  • Do you like the idea of this campaign,
  • If you got a free hot chocolate in the morning ,would you come in on time ?
  • Do you think its realistic for the college to do this, give out free hot chocolate and tea every morning?

The feedback i got was that:no-one had thought of the idea before , "they probably would come in on time if they knew there was something to look forward to when they got in the classroom"and that "the college would probably not be bothered to spend money on giving students free hot chocolate"

  • My campaign is to convince colleges/schools that students should get free hot chocolate.Lots of students liked the idea, Ithink it would encourage students to be on time and will save them money .Also people who bother to come to college should get a reward in return-free hot chocolate
  • It is aimed at students and colleges
  • my aim of the campaign is to get every college to make free hot chocolate be available to students in the mornings when they come into college.
  • who will support it ?students that go to college. We deserve a reward, we choose to come to college, we should get something in return, other students would agree with me .
  • who might oppose?the college themselves, they might not want to spend money on free hot chocolate, ' there's more important things to spend the money on .There's many postivies/advantages for this campaign, and the only negative is that it does cost the college money.

Tom Woodcocks campaign presentation...

  • Tom Woodcock is a secretary of the trades union council
  • He showed us different campaigns , the Tesco campaign,Postal workers...
  • He has partisipated in many campaigns, including the Royal mail strike
www.nomillroadtesco.org

One of the campaigns mentioned is the Tesco issue-The Tesco Metro on Mill Road

  • over 5,000 people signed a petition and 1,000 people objected to it's planning applications
  • The 'No Mill road Tesco ' Campaign was set up to oppose and kept Mill Road Tesco-free for alomost 2 years
  • Now because there is a Tesco on Mill Road, means that other food shops are going to suffer-people are going to want to go to Tesco...
  • There are a lot of disadvantages:more Tesco vans going down Mill road, putting other businesses out of business , and there are enough places where you can buy food:Co-op, grocery stores, restaurants..

vox pot task

we had to film ourselves asking other people in our class, or other students about our campaigns.
my questions were :
  • Do you like the idea of this campaign?
  • if you get a free hot chocolate in the morning, would you come in on time more?
  • Do you think it's realistic for the college to do this-give free hot chocolate every morning?
we were put in to groups. My group were:Matt,Leanne,Jasmine ,Sunny and Chloe.I think we worked well as a group, because we got the filming done quite quickly.Down-sides:Someone felt bad so didn't join in much and it was a really cold day...

After the filming we had to edit the video , to make it look good .It took a day for me to finish editing my part of the video.

today...
A lady who helps think of different ways to make a campaign.
  • She taught us that we need need to think, how we get our message across-posters, leaflets, facebook , myspace.....
  • The slideshow she did showed how much work goes into campaigns or company's-such as O2.She used O2 as a example to show how they have advertised their company in many ways.
  • for an activity we were given a task.To come up with a poster for the NHS- we had to think about the colours, how things are layed out , headline and the tagl-line.
  • We had to work in groups of 4
  • i think it went well because we got taught alot, and also we got the chance to do something ourselves too, NHS poster. We had to do a poster to encourage stuff at the hospital-e.g doctors, nurses... and my group chose nurses.

today i ...
  • cut out my stencil- that took ages
  • painted over my stencil

I had to wait ages to colour in my stencil because so many pople were doing it already and there wasn't much space in the room for all of us to do it at the same time.

Stencil took ages to cut out because there was lots to cut out .

Blog Reflection

1.what did i do today
Today I added a post on blogger about my stencil design draft .I did a action plan of what i will do this week, print off design, update blog, finish slide show.

2.what went well and why
I did an action plan which will help me with what i am doing this week, so i am more organised. Also i added a post on my blog about my stencil design draft- the love-heart one.

3. what could i have done differently
Could have added more detail on the post , but i didnt have enough time.

my final stencil design(draft)

  • My final stencil is different to my original design .I had to change it because it would be too complicate/difficult to do it as a stencil. So in the end i just used the love-heart because it stood out the most , and would be the easiest to do . Anyway the final (draft)design stencil looked good when i cut it out and sprayed it .

Stencil Art Evaluation

A. What did you learn about this technique?
I had never done this technique before , so i learned alot.I didn't realise how long it was going take.Even though it takes a while to do , it's fun and creative. It looks simple, but its not .

B. What are you most pleased about the skills you have demonstrated?
I have never created a stencil like that before , and i think my stencil design came out well .I learned how to do create a stencil like that in..about..a week!I think my final stencil was good , because I hadn't done this before, and it looks great.

C. What would you change if you could do this part again?
I think I should have used a less complicated design. My design had writing and a picture of a love heart, but for the final stencil i couldn't do that because it would have taken alot of time.So i could only use the love heart that was part of my design.

>>Blood,Sweat and T-shirts<<
  • This clip is about children in India who work in clothes making.
  • Children aged 9-14 work there. Children are sent to work because their parents are poor- so they send their children to work
  • some are treated in poor conditions , some are treated a bit fairer.
  • some don't go back home for a long time, and hardly see their family. It's like a new home to them
  • It shows us who is making the clothes for primark, and other clothes stores.

>>Primark on the Rack<<
  • On the Primark shop window there is a sign about , that the people who make the clothes are checked on and they make sure they are fairly treated...but still people are working in poor conditions.
  • Primark is cheap because the workers are paid hardly anything...
  • You might think,' yay good looking clothes for hardly anything!'...but think about where it's from where it's made.We need to think about where our clothes come from, how the people who made our clothes are treated , how much money they get paid

my 3 campaign ideas

:)My 3 campaign ideas:)

  • campaign that would improve the quality of your own life..education

1.I should be able to get more help at school/college in lessons, because I am slightly dyslexic, and I feel like i'm not getting much help.I was only tested to see if I had dyslexia in year 11 and at college, they should have done something before then.Other people are struggling, not just me.

2.it is relevent to 16-19 year olds because i am 17.Other people need help too with learning who are aged 16-19, also college is really important if you want to get a good job , or go to university.

  • campaign that would have a positive impact on the lives of others ...support

1.Families with children/ teens that are disruptive at home, or cannot cope should get more help from the government/council. I have experianced living in a household with a disruptive sibling who has ADHD and dyslexia, and I think people like me should be able to get more help at home, not have to struggle on their own. Also the police aren’t an answer to everything…

2.This campaign is relevent to people aged 16-19 because other people are out there with the same problems, and need support .

  • something that will make people smile!:)... smile

1.In the morning when u get in the classroom, get free tea or hot chocolate! When you get up in the morning and come to school or college you feel tired. What you need is something so you can :relax, wake up and chill out so you are ready for the day ahead of you!

2.This happens to 16-19 year olds coming into school/college tired everyday.what we need is something nice for when we come in the classroom in the morning.

T-shirt stencil design

'Everybody in love , go put your hands up' are some lyrics from a song called 'Everybody in love'. It's a song by one of my favourite pop groups,JLS.I can't stop listening to it!

I think the design is successful because i asked lots of people which one of my t-shirt designs is best. People i asked liked the idea of having those lyrics on a t-shirt. Also JLS fans will like it ... and it's simple.

I put a love heart on the design, representing 'love', and obviously it's a love song . I drew arrows next to 'up' to make it stand out and added colour -pink-to it.I used the bold writing because i thought if i didn't , it wouldn't look as good.

It addresses my target audiance ,16-19 year olds, because i asked people what design looks better and most people liked this one. Also JLS fans would like it.

I can't think of anything that i could add to it.We only used 2 colours ...so I only used pink and black on the design. If i added anything else to it , it would make it complicated .

stages of how i did...
  • First we were asked to think of anything that came in our heads that would look good on a t-shirt
  • Then we were asked to think of a design of a t-shirt fro 16-19 year olds
  • I came up with 4 designs and asked people which one they thought was best, in the end the final design was the 'Everybody in love..' design.

i want..More people to survive from cancer

  • I want ...more people to servive from cancer.
  • I chose to do this because i know some people who have cancer , and I want more people to be able to servive from cancer , so many people die from it
  • Everyone agreed with what I want, who wouldn't...
  • Three 17 year olds and eleven 16 year olds(the class)
  • 5 boys and 9 girls(the class)

my CRAM logo design

I chose to do my CRAM logo like this because........
  • It's a clapper board-representing media
  • The splodges show creativity
  • lots of bright colours , if it had dull colours it would be boring, and won't stand out
what would work? what wouldn't ?
  • I don't think my logo design would be good as a t-shirt design because...
- it might be a bit childish, for younger people
-maybe too complicated for a t-shirt logo
- it isn't orginal, lots of people chose to do a clapper board
  • I think my logo design would be good as a t-shirt design because...
- it has bright colours which makes it stands out
- it's a drawn clapper board- hasent been uploaded from internet

How i did it.....
  • To create my logo i used photoshop.
  • I created it by using lines ,from photoshop,to draw a clapper board
  • added some sploge shapes
  • added text to it "creative and Media"

The History of the T-shirt

  • The T-shirt evolved from undergarments used in the early 19th century.
  • T-shirts orginally became popular in the USA when they were issued by the US navy during or following the Spanish American War
  • "T-shirt" didn't become a word in the English dictionary until the 1920's
  • The style didn't enter mainstream fashion until the 1960's
  • until the 1950's ,t-shirts were still thought as being underwear
  • James Dean , an actor, helped make the T-shirt a standard item of clothing
  • The T-shirt has been proven to be great for slogans, designs , and creating designs .
  • Advances in screenprinting gave people an opportunity to print on t-shirts in the 1960's
  • in the late 60's and 70's people realized printing on t-shirts could be a great business.Rock'n'roll bands and professional athletic teams made lots of money by selling custom screen printed t-shirts
